Starbucks withdraws use permit application
Starbucks Coffee Company's battle to get into Saratoga Village is over. The company withdrew its application for a land-use permit last week. On Jan. 22, Starbucks came perilously close to being denied a permit to open a coffeehouse at the corner of Big Basin Way and Highway 9, when a motion to approve the proposal failed 5-2 because of parking concerns. The coffee chain was given the option to go back to the drawing board.
"[The Planning Commission] continued the item specifically to respond to whether or not Starbucks can find 16 off-site spaces," said James Walgren, associate planner for the city.
