Susan J. Klein, owner of Susan Klein Bookseller, was named chairwoman of the fifth annual Villa Montalvo Book Fair, to be held March 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Villa Montalvo.
Proceeds from the fair will benefit the Phelan Library at the villa.
"Klein is accomplished and well known by her reputation," said Ann Louden, chairwoman of the Villa Montalvo Library Committee. "She has been a participant in the Book Fair for several years."
Klein, who deals in rare and out-of-print books, said the event seemed to be "a terrific opportunity to make a contribution to the community and the book world."
Twenty-five book and print dealers will sell first editions and collectibles. Klein said the event will feature books on a wide range of topics, including western Americana, science and technology, children's literature and 20th-century literature.
In a new feature this year, the public will have the opportunity to have books appraised by qualified dealers.
Dealers in the fair will include Saratoga's George Lundquist Bookseller. "The fair is very elegant and enjoyable. It's one of the best-looking book fairs in the world, although it is small," Lundquist said.
Volunteers are currently working to restore the Phelan Library to a 1930s ambience and to build a book collection similar to one Sen. James D. Phelan would have had when he lived there during that time period.
Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.
Villa Montalvo is located at 15400 Montalvo Road.
