Street Jammers fall to San Jose

Nicole Justice poured in 16 points, but the Street Jammers dropped a 44-29 decision to San Jose in recent youth basketball action.

The Jammers, a team of third- and fourth-grade girls in the National Junior Basketball program in Saratoga, slipped to 5-2 for the year with the loss.

K.C. Walsh supported Justice's effort with 10 points and Bryte Nielson added eight points for Saratoga.

Hit the slopes

Saratoga residents will get the chance to hit the slopes thanks to a pair of ski trips planned by the Saratoga Recreation Department.

The Rec Department will offer a Feb. 24 trip to Northstar and a March 9 trip to Squaw Valley. The $69 registration fee for each trip includes a lift ticket, transportation and breakfast. There is a $10 discount for those over age 54 and under 13.

Masiello at Chicago

Dave Masiello of Saratoga is a sophomore on the track and field team at the University of Chicago. Masiello finished first in the 35-pound weight throw to help the Maroons finish first in a five-team meet hosted by the school. His toss of 13.22 meters topped the field.

Soccer players needed

The De Anza Blue Heat is looking for players for under-13 select and under-14 development teams for the spring season. Players are needed for all positions, and player evaluations will be held Feb. 17 and 24, 10-11:30 a.m., at Jollyman Park in Cupertino.
