Longtime Saratogan Dr. Barney Victor Rosasco died in his sleep Jan. 4 at the age of 94.
Born March 23, 1904, in Portland, Ore., Rosasco moved to San Francisco in 1920. While attending the University of California School of Dentistry in 1930, he also worked in the local fruit industry, installing and operating prune dehydrators for the Puccinelli family. After obtaining his degree, Rosasco practiced dentistry in downtown Saratoga from 1930 until his 1969 retirement.
During World War II and the Korean War, Rosasco served with the U.S. Air Force. Following active duty, Rosasco continued as a reservist until the age of 60, when he retired with the rank of colonel.
Rosasco contributed many years to bettering the community of Saratoga. In addition to service as vice mayor and as one of the original City Council members, he served as president of the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, president of the Lions Clubs, as a police chief for seven years and as an 11-year member of the former school boards.
Upon retirement, Rosasco and his late wife of 49 years, Lotus, traveled throughout Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East. He also provided dentistry free of charge to needy people in the greater San Jose area.
In his free time, Rosasco loved spending time in his garden, where he grew plants, flowers, vegetables and fruit trees.
Survivors include niece, The Rev. Dr. Barbara Thomas Smith and her husband Slater Smith of Napa; nephews Jorge and Jose Rosasco of Santiago, Chile; great-nephew Michael Thomas and his wife Mona of San Francisco; great-niece Deborah Thomas Kramer and her husband Reynold of Redwood City; and the Kramers' children Nathan Jon, Wesley Tyler and Alyssa Jane.

June Johnson
Saratoga resident June L. Johnson died Jan. 13 at the Los Gatos Meadows Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 70.
Born May 17, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., Johnson was a schoolteacher in both Chicago and in Honolulu, Hawaii; at the latter she taught disadvantaged and disabled children. In Saratoga, she was very active in the Women's Auxiliary of the Saratoga Federated Church. Her husband, Dr. Stanley M. Johnson, is a former senior minister at the church.
Survivors include husband Stanley Johnson; children Dave, Doug, Debbie and Dan Johnson; and grandchildren Andrew, Scott, Jake, Kate, Shannon and T.J.; also three sisters, one brother, a stepmother and an aunt.

Carole Isidoro
Carole Lynn Isidoro, a former resident of the Los Gatos and Saratoga area, died Jan 14 of cancer at Stanford Hospital. She was 47.
Born Nov. 15, 1951, in Bury, England, Isidoro was an avid horsewoman who enjoyed riding and training horses locally and in Woodside. She also raised North American shepherd dogs.
Survivors include husband Mark Isidoro of La Honda; sons Jason Ducommun of Auburn and John Mander of Redding; father Danny Mander of Los Gatos and mother Edna Mander of Half Moon Bay.
Private memorial services will be held this spring. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Paul Johnson
Saratoga resident Paul Joseph Johnson died Jan. 20 at the age of 84.
Johnson was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Michigan City, Ind. He was a professional printer.
Survivors include wife of 52 years Lorraine Johnson of Saratoga; daughter and son-in-law Patrice and Richard Blanchette; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Renee Johnson; grandsons Ryan, Robbie and Richie Johnson; sister Dorothy Plimley; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services have been held, with interment at Italian Cemetery in Colma.
Wendy Lonberger
Wendy Anne Lonberger of Saratoga died Jan. 24 following a long illness. She was 32.
Born March 7, 1966, in Mt. Clements, Mich., Lonberger worked as a receptionist. According to her family, she will be remembered as "a saved believer, a free spirit, a person with a terrific sense of humor, a person with a personal commitment to honesty and one who never uttered a criticism of another person."
She is survived by mother and stepfather Lani and Larry Smith of Saratoga; father and stepmother Roy and Carol Lonberger of Monte Sereno; sisters Lora Lonberger of Monrovia; brother Chad Lonberger of Los Gatos; brother Luke Lonberger of Monte Sereno; grandparents Herbert and Betty Lonberger of Newport Beach; aunt Mary Primack of Los Angeles; aunt and uncle Joyce and Robert Norcross of Norwalk; and cousins Dorian and Denise Williams, Diane and Mats Carlshagen, Melody and Lt. Justin Garcia, Todd, Ryan and Tiffany Norcross; April Johnson and Coty and Christian Garcia.
Carolyn Hayes
Former Saratogan Carolyn Hayes died Feb. 9 at the Los Gatos Meadows, where she had been residing. She was 93.
Born Oct. 26, 1905, in Kane, Pa., Hayes received a bachelor's degree in education from UCLA. She worked as an instructor at San Jose State University, a teacher in the Saratoga Union School District and was a supervisor for the Santa Clara County Board of Education.Hayes was a member of the Saratoga Foothill Club, Montalvo Service Group, Delphian Study Group and Daughters of the Nile. She also enjoyed photography and reading.
Survivors include nieces Marilyn Dobson of Saratoga, Jean Cherniss of S. Pasadena and Emmy Lou Robinson of Bermuda Dunes; and nephew Kenneth Hayes of S. Pasadena.
