Scott Reeves leads Vikings to victories

Scott Reeves poured in 48 points in two games to lead the West Valley Community College men's basketball team to back-to-back wins in the North Division of the Coast Conference.

Reeves, a former San Jose Pacific Baseball League standout who went on to star in baseball and basketball at Valley Christian, tossed in 27 points, including five three-pointers, to lead the Vikings past Chabot 97-80.

James Holmes led all West Valley scorers in the win with 28 points. Toby Vares finished in double digits with 15 points, and Taplar Mvogo added 11. Robert Taylor finished with eight, Darrell Teat six and Derek Mickle two.

Reeves came back with 21 points, including four more threes, to lead the Vikes to an impressive 68-53 win over Foothill. Vares hit a pair of threes on his way to 15 points and Mvogo and Holmes had 10 points apiece.

Keith Lakstigala added five points, including a three, Teat had four points and Mickle hit a three-pointer.

The two wins helped West Valley improve to 5-3 in conference play and to 20-7 for the year.
