Blue Rock Shoot co-owner Mitch Cutler hopes the March 10 grand opening of the new coffee-and-book shop will raise about $15,000 for the Saratoga Education Foundation.
For $15, grand opening attendees will get food, beer, local wines, cigars and musical entertainment. Tickets are available at Saratoga School, Foothill School and Argonaut School.
Cutler said he'll prepare "Sunday afternoon food," appetizers such as smoked salmon, bagels, caviar and pizza. The wine offerings will include vintages from Saratoga's Clos La Chance winery. Cutler will hand out some of his fattest Dominican Republic cigars.
The opening of the restaurant was originally expected in October, but Cutler said cobblestones hindered excavation that was needed to expand the building, and one woodwork contractor disappeared without finishing his job.
As of Feb. 12, construction was down to the final details. Workers still needed to varnish the floors, put in stained-glass windows and wire the display cases.
The Blue Rock Shoot is located at 14523 Big Basin Way, the building formerly occupied by Trésor's antique shop.
Cutler, and his wife and business partner, Traci, also own La Fondue restaurant across the street from the Blue Rock Shoot.
Saratoga Bookstore co-owners Ian Oeschger and Rachel Cart are moving their shop from 14435 Big Basin Way to the lower level of the Cutlers' Blue Rock Shoot.
