The Saratoga Sister City Student Exchange Committee is accepting applications for the 12th annual Student Exchange Program.
This year's program will run from July 28 to Aug. 17. Five students from Saratoga's sister city, Muko-Shi, Japan, will spend 10 days in Saratoga; then the Saratoga students will spend 10 days in Muko-Shi.
Joan Gomersall, a member of the exchange committee, described the qualities the committee is looking for in its Saratoga students. "We want them to keep in mind that they are student ambassadors representing Saratoga. We would also like them to be interested in learning about Japanese culture and in hosting Japanese students."
Gomersall said she hoped the Saratoga students would be enriched by the program. "I want them to learn more about Japanese culture and to promote communication between the people of both countries," she said.
Gomersall said the committee is mainly looking for students between the ages of 15 and 19. A personal interview will be required of each student and family wishing to participate. For more information and to obtain an application, contact Gomersall, 996-8050, or Yosh Okada, 867-3141. The application deadline is May 1.
