'New do' benefits the AIDS Project

James Craig Haircolor & Design, 14567 Big Basin Way, will participate in an AIDS benefit March 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. Hairstylists will donate their time for cuts, styling, coloring and other services. All of the proceeds will go to the Visiting Nurses Association AIDS Project and Health Etc., which offers AIDS education to the community. Call 559-5581 to participate.

Saratoga physician attends assembly

Dr. Gary Odell of Saratoga attended the 49th annual Scientific Assembly of the California Academy of Family Physicians in San Francisco Feb. 7-10. More than 700 family physicians from around the state attended the meeting on continuing medical education.

Speakers discussed health care topics such as addiction to medicine, alternative therapies, pain management, infertility, obesity and cancer screening. Special programs focused on two difficult issues: domestic violence and physician-assisted suicide.

Malanczuk named VLSI vice president

Ted Malanczuk, 52, of Saratoga has been named new vice president for VLSI Technology Inc.'s operations division in San Jose.

Previously, Malanczuk was chief operating officer with Micro Linear. Prior to that, he was with National Semiconductor for 11 years and served as vice president of worldwide fabrication and technology. He has been in the semiconductor industry for 28 years. He holds an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut and a B.S.E.E. from Fairleigh Dickinson University, N. J.

Saratogan elected Law Foundation president

Patrick Tondreau of Saratoga has been elected president of the board of directors of the Santa Clara County Bar Association Law Foundation.

Tondreau is a partner with McTernan, Stender, Walsh, Weingus and Tondreau, San Jose. He graduated from the University of Santa Clara and received his J. D. degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.

Tondreau was president of the Santa Clara County Bar Association in 1992 and has chaired several committees.
