City Council

Emergency purchases: The council voted unanimously to approve a list from the Public Works Department of emergency purchases made in connection with the initial response and monitoring efforts of a mudslide on Villa Oaks Lane in January. Staff was directed to prepare a report listing other dormant slides in the Mt. Eden subdivision and present it to the council within a few weeks.

Appeal of request: The council by consensus decided to table hearing an appeal by Beverly Phipps of a building site approval granted to the Constantin family for their lot on Norton Road. Council members said they wanted to get more information from the city geologist on the safety of building on that lot before making a decision. The Planning Commission approved the permit in January. A date has not yet been set for a new public hearing.

Review Approval: The council voted to move the issue of the Planning Commission's design review approval for the Argonaut Shopping Center to the Feb. 25 agenda for review.

Fund Allocations: The council voted to approve allocating $176,946 of Housing and Community Development Act Funds, but deferred making allocations for human services grants from the general fund to a later date because of current budget constraints.
