Vikings win big over Cabrillo

Bennett Davison poured in 24 points and Andy Newman and Taplar Mvogo tossed in 16 apiece to lead the West Valley Community College men's basketball team to a lopsided 94-69 win over Cabrillo in the first round of the Northern California Community College playoffs.

Davison jammed nine field goals and was 6-for-7 at the free-throw line to lead all scorers in the win. Newman pitched in three three-pointers on his way to 16 points and Mvogo hit a pair of threes.

Bob Ladine buried three threes on his way to 13 points and Scott Reeves drained three threes to finish with nine points for the Vikings. Jacobi Thompson added nine points, Jamaal Sanford hit six and Toby Vares had two.

West Valley improved to 27-2 for the year with the victory.

Los Gatos All-Comers track-and-field meets

The Los Gatos All-Comers track-and-field meets continue at the Los Gatos all-weather facility through March 2. Competition begins at 1:30 p.m. each Saturday. The entry fee is $3, and the cost for spectators is $2. For more information, call Willie Harmatz at 354-7365.

Saratoga Recreation Department ski trip

Saratoga residents will get the chance to head to the slopes thanks to a ski trip planned by the Saratoga Recreation Department.

The Rec Department will offer a March 9 trip to Squaw Valley. The $69 registration fee includes a lift ticket, transportation and breakfast. There is a $10 discount for those over age 54 and under 13.
