SUSD adds time for Redwood response

The Saratoga Union School District Board of Trustees granted Saratoga Community Development Director James Walgren's request to push the deadline back for responses to the initial environmental study at Redwood Middle School.

The board unanimously agreed with Walgren's request, and extended the deadline to March 18, instead of March 5.

In a letter to the district, Walgren said the city would like to respond to the study, but to do so it needs more time because of the schedules of the city's planning and public safety commissions, as well as the City Council.

While trees and traffic are at the center of debate in the SUSD's other project at Saratoga Elementary, traffic is the main concern at Redwood. According to the initial study, traffic will not be negatively affected by renovating the site. Members of those three city commissions have indicated that they disagree with the opinion of the initial study.
