Neurologist offers seminar on aging and memory loss

As most people get older, the efficiency of their brain's neurological functioning starts to lessen as a natural part of aging. Some people lose memory as a result of strokes, while others fall prey to Alzheimer's disease.

On March 14 at 1 p.m., the Terraces of Los Gatos hosts Dr. Anthony Vitto, who offers an informative and fun seminar for senior citizens on various aspects of memory loss.

Vitto, who is the chief of neurology at Columbia Good Samaritan Hospital, will focus on the distinctions between benign memory loss and serious cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer's disease.

Vitto will also offer helpful hints on memory improvement and will field questions from participants on memory loss and disease. Cedar Creek Care Center, a Los Gatos facility that cares for individuals with dementia, is co-sponsor of the seminar.

Following the lecture, seniors are invited to take a complimentary memory-screening exam, provided by Pfizer Inc. and Eisai Inc. Refreshments will also be served.

The seminar takes place in the Glenn Rouse Assembly Hall at The Terraces, which is located at 800 Blossom Hill Road. For more information or to reserve a place, call Stacy Clamage at 356-1006.
