Student poets, actors, artists, photographers, dancers and musicians in Santa Clara County are invited to enter the Olympiad of the Arts Competition, sponsored by the West Valley/Mission Colleges Foundation and supported by the Saratoga Rotary Art Show.
The Olympiad of the Arts is a competition in acting performance, dance, vocal and piano music, photography, poetry, short stories and visual arts held annually for students. To be eligible, entrants must be enrolled in high school or college within Santa Clara County.
The entry deadlines are March 14, acting; March 21, music; April 15, photography; March 31, poetry and short stories; April 22, visual arts/college and April 2, visual arts/high school. The dance deadline was March 3. Entry fees range from $1 to $5 per entry.
Cash awards for the high school competition are $3,000, and the college winners will share $4,000.
Photography entries will be on exhibit at the Montalvo Art Gallery, where a reception for the artists will be held April 17. High school visual arts entries will be on exhibit in the West Valley College Art Gallery, and a reception for artists will be held April 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. College visual arts entries will be displayed at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara, and a reception for the college artists will be held April 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. Winning entries in the literary arts will be published, and open auditions will be held in the music and dance categories.
The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 4, at 2 p.m. in the West Valley College Theater in conjunction with the Saratoga Rotary Art Show.
