Plans to renovate the Argonaut Shopping Center are in question again. After spending months at the drawing board and finally receiving the green light from the Planning Department in late January, the issue will now go before the City Council for review on Mar.19.
Citing the high visibility of the project, Councilman Paul Jacobs requested last week that the issue be called up. He was supported by Councilman Stan Bogosian.
"I haven't seen anything in terms of what they are proposing, and I do feel that the council will be held responsible whatever goes on there," Jacobs said.
Said Bogosian: "I believe that although the Planning Commission passed it, we're going to be the ones who will be held accountable if there are potentially any problems with it."
According to municipal code, permits approved by the Planning Commission are allowed to be called up for review if at least two council members request it at a regular or adjourned city council meeting within 15 days of the approval.
