    By Dick Sparrer

Dmitri Kirk-Gordon of Campbell won an individual championship and Emerson DiNapoli of Los Gatos and Martin Lee of Saratoga also placed high while competing for the California Fencing Academy at the Fencing Junior Olympic championships held in Columbus, Ohio.

Kirk-Gordon was a champ in the men's junior (under age 20) foil event. The Campbell fencer is currently ranked No. 1 nationally in the men's cadet foil and third in the nation in men's junior foil. He will represent the United States on the Junior and Cadet World Team at the Fencing World Championships to be held next month in Turkey.

DiNapoli, 15 and a freshman at Bellarmine, finished in a seventh-place tie in a field of 182 competitors in the men's cadet (under 17) foil event. He was also 31st in the men's junior foil. DiNapoli is currently ranked 20th in the nation in cadet men's foil and 49th in junior men's foil.

Lee, a senior at Lynbrook, was seventh in the junior men's epee at the Junior Olympic event, sponsored by the United States Fencing Association, Feb. 15-19.

The three all compete for the California Fencing Academy, located in the Westgate West Shopping Center.
