    Good Grades

    The Saratoga boys and girls soccer teams finished among the top contenders for the Central Coast Section's Winter Season Scholastic Championship team awards.

    The Saratoga girls teamed for a combined 3.6260 grade point average to finish fifth among girls soccer teams in the CCS. The boys posted a cumulative 3.4010 to nail sixth in the CCS.

    Oars in the Water

    The Los Gatos Rowing Club will open the 2002 home season with a March 9 regatta at Lexington Reservoir. The club will be home again on March 17 for a rowing event at Lexington.

    South Bay Soccer

    The South Bay Youth Soccer League is now accepting sign-ups for the spring season for boys and girls in the under-6 through under-14 age divisions (ages determined as of July 31, 2002).

    The season runs March 9 through June 1, and there will be tournaments at the end of the regular season. Players play at least half of every game.

    The registration fee of $75 per player includes a uniform, photo package and end of the season award.

    Lacrosse Camp

    Stanford coach Joe Christie will host a lacrosse camp April 8-11 for beginner to intermediate players ages 8-14.

    Christie, a teacher at Redwood Middle School, will team with Redwood teacher and athletic director Brian Senior to put on the camp in Saratoga.

    Volleyball Sign-ups

    The U.S. Volleyball League is holding registration through March 15 for the 2002 spring season that will run from April 9 through June 8 at Camden Park in San Jose.

    The league is open to players ages 8-14, and the fee is $95 per player. The cost includes instruction, games, a uniform T-shirt and equipment.
