Youth Commission hosts 'Boneyard' for Saratoga teens
In an effort to give teens a safe place to gather, the Saratoga Recreation Department and the Youth Commission will initiate "Boneyard," a weekly Saturday-night party at Warner Hutton House, starting March 9.
The house, located next to City Hall at the corner of Fruitvale and Allendale avenues, will be open from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., and teens of high-school age are invited to enjoy refreshments, pool, and music by local bands. Sean Adams, Matt Call and Ryan Chilcote will play the first night.
Admission is free for anyone carrying a current high school picture ID or $5 for teens without identification.
Recreation director Joan Pisani said the sponsors hope to continue the Boneyard program through the end of the school year. Bands interested in performing, or persons wanting more information on Boneyard, can call 867-3438, ext. 234.
Heritage Commission applicants sought
The Saratoga City Council is seeking interested citizens to fill vacancies on the city's Heritage Commission. The Heritage Commission, an advisory body to the City Council, meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m. to consider the designation and preservation of Saratoga's historic resources. Persons with interest and/or experience in architecture, history, planning or other preservation-related fields are encouraged to apply.
Any Saratoga resident who is 18 or older is eligible. Applications, available at City Hall, must be returned by March 8. Those who apply will be asked to attend the March 12 City Council meeting.
For more information, call the deputy city clerk at 867-3438.
