With election day three weeks away, the debates and forums on Saratoga's Measure G will get under way this week.
First, the Saratoga News will sponsor an online debate at 8 p.m. March 7.
Jim Shaw, chairman of the Save Our Neighborhoods Initiative Committee, will discuss the ballot measure with No on G representatives Dick Siegfried and Michael Fox Sr.
Another debate, sponsored by Saratoga Rotary, is set for 12:15 p.m. March 15 at the Saratoga Community Center, 19655 Allendale Ave. Siegfried will argue against the measure, with Shaw speaking in favor.
To participate, call by modem at 996-0966. [New users must register with Virtual Valley one day before they may access most features, including the debate.] Instructions for logging on over the Internet can be found online.
SONIC will sponsor its own forum 7-9 p.m. March 10 at the Community Center. Candace Pratt, of the League of Women Voters, will speak against the measure and at least one member of SONIC will speak in favor of it. Both sides will answer audience questions.
