    Football Clinic

    Professional and college football coaches will be the featured speakers at the Football Clinic of Champions on March 24, 11:30 a.m., at Mountain View High School.

    Gil Haskell, offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, and Al Saunders, receivers coach for the St. Louis Rams, will top the list of speakers who will each give a 50-minute presentation.

    Haskell was a member of the Green Bay coaching staff when the Packers won the Super Bowl in 1997, and Saunders worked on the staff for the Rams when they won the Super Bowl in 2000.

    Rounding out the lineup of speakers will be Neal Zoumboukos, assistant head coach at the University of Oregon; Doug Cosbie, head coach at Menlo College and former All-Pro tight end for the Dallas Cowboys; and Fitz Hill, head coach at San Jose State University.

    The clinic is targeted to high school and youth football coaches but is open to the general public. The cost is $35 per person or $30 each for groups of five or more. The clinic runs to 5 p.m.

    Panthers nail win

    Chad Holan hammered down 11 kills to lead the Prospect boys volleyball team to a 15-10, 10-15, 15-4, 15-11 nonleague win over Washington of Fremont last week.

    It marked the first match of the 2001 season for the Panthers.

    'Will to Win' Scholarships

    High school scholar-athletes who have competed despite facing the challenge of asthma are eligible for scholarships through the "Will to Win" scholarship program.

    The program, in its 17th year, grants $35,000 in scholarships to 10 high school seniors, with the grand prize winner claiming a $10,000 award.

    Scholarship applications are available by calling the "Will to Win" hotline at 1.800.558.7305. The deadline for entries is April 30.

    De Anza Bulldogs

    The De Anza Bulldogs, a boys under-13 Class 1 soccer team, is looking for players interested in competing in their year-round program. Call 408.252.4160 or e-mail DLillo@aol.com.

    Volleyball signups

    The United States Youth Volleyball League is accepting registration for its spring program in Los Gatos and San Jose.

    The coed league is open to players ages 8-14 and the fee of $90 per player includes instruction, games, uniform T-shirt and equipment. League play runs March 31-June 16.

    Teams will meet twice a week: on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. at Camden Park West, and on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. at Los Gatos High School.
