Police confirm man's death was a suicide

Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department officials have confirmed that the body of a man found March 5 in Congress Springs Park in Saratoga was that of Andrew Barnett.

Department spokesman Sgt. Jim Arata said that Barnett, 38, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The body was discovered at 7:42 a.m. by a Saratoga city employee.

Arata said that the man was scheduled to appear at a mental competancy hearing the same day his body was discovered.
