Steven Wattis Bowman

Steven Wattis Bowman, 53, of Saratoga died Feb. 26 at Valley Medical Center. Bowman was born Jan. 15, 1944, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah and attended the Monterey Language Institute, where he learned to speak Vietnamese. He served in the 635th Military Intelligence Detachment as an interrogator in Vietnam.

He married Carol Barbara Jensen in 1971 and completed law school in 1976. He started working for the Legal Aid Society of Santa Clara County in 1975 because he wanted to help people.

He practiced law from 1976 to 1997 in Campbell, specializing in bankruptcy and real estate.

He leaves his wife, Carol, and sons Rob, 22, and Cory, 20, of Saratoga.

Bowman coached Little League baseball and soccer for many years. He enjoyed gourmet cooking and entertaining his family and friends. He lavishly decorated the house every holiday, said his wife.

"Throughout the years, Steve gave so much to so many people without asking for anything in return. He will always be remembered by family, friends and clients," his wife said.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 15 at Saratoga Federated Church.
