Community Center hearing is March 21

Anyone interested in a new community and senior center for Saratoga, or just a remodel of the old one should come to a public hearing before the City Council on March 21 at 7 p.m. Anderson Brulé Architects will give a presentation. The meeting will be held in the Adult Day Care Center at 19655 Allendale Ave. For more information, call Recreation Director Joan Pisani at 408.868.1250.

Walk among spring blossoms in the Heritage Orchard

From March 18 through 24, Matt Novakovich, who maintains Saratoga's Heritage Orchard and harvests the fruit there, will mow a path under the trees so that Saratogans can walk through and experience the trees in bloom.

Census forms to show up in the mail this month

The city of Saratoga wants residents to be aware that they will receive forms in the mail for Census 2000.

Households across the country should receive their forms around the end of March, and have until April 11 to mail them back. Nonresponding households will be contacted directly by a census taker through July 7.

Completing the forms is important for many reasons, including the use of census data to determine how federal and state money is allocated to local communities.

And the census provides decision-makers with information to better understand which places need new roads, schools or hospitals.
