    Rodriguez helps Bellarmine

Brett Rodriguez of Saratoga, a former student at Blue Hills Elementary School and Kennedy Junior High in Cupertino, was a junior starter on the Bellarmine soccer team that won the Central Coast Section Division I championship this past winter.

The Bells defeated Willow Glen 2-1 to advance to the CCS title game, then handled Live Oak 4-1 to clinch the championship.

The Bells now boast an unbeaten streak of 50 consecutive games over two seasons and are ranked No. 1 in the nation by Student Sports Magazine.

    Westmont Warriors ace the Panthers

The Westmont boys' volleyball team went five games to turn back Prospect in nonleague action last week. The Warriors topped the Panthers 15-6, 13-15, 15-9, 13-15, 15-10.

Prospect had fallen to Willow Glen earlier in the week. The Rams took the Panthers 15-7, 15-6, 15-8.

    Vikings return

The Vikings will return to Lynbrook on March 18 ... at least, those Vikings who played baseball in seasons past at the local high school.

Lynbrook will host an alumni baseball game on March 18, 12:30 p.m. For more information, e-mail faulk96@hotmail.com or call 408.366.7729.

    South Bay Soccer

The South Bay Youth Soccer League is holding spring signups for boys and girls in the under-6 through under 17 age groups. Signups are held Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the stadium snack bar at the Campbell Community Center.

The cost is $65 per player, with discounts available for siblings. The season runs from mid-March through June, with games played on Saturdays.

    Call 408.248.8516.

    Spring Coaches

High school coaches are reminded to send us their spring sports schedules, rosters and completed questionnaires so that we can begin coverage of the 2000 season.

Packets were faxed to athletic directors at area high schools, and they were asked to distribute the information to the spring coaches.

Fax sports information to 408.354.3917, or call Dick Sparrer at 408.978.9665.
