Village Briefs The Shakespeare Festival actors will perform in Saratoga
On March 25, West Valley College hosts two actors from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival; Julie Grant and David Eric Thompson will perform excerpts from Shakespearean plays as well as works from classic and contemporary literature at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. in the campus theater. They will also conduct an actors' workshop at 12:30 p.m. There is no charge for the events, which are part of the Oregon festival's commitment to bringing theater to young people and young people to theater. After the last festival, teams of actors visited 283 schools and other organizations, reaching nearly 160,000 individuals in eight Western states, including Alaska.

Spring recreation guide available
The Saratoga Recreation Department's Spring 1999 Activity Guide is now available. Among the activities and programs included in this new guide are many half- and full-day spring and summer camps. Among them are Just Play Sports Academy, Skyhawks, On Your Toes Dance Camp and Kidz Love Soccer Camp, Camp Caterpillar, Nature Camp, Adventure Camp and Endless Summer. Local winery hosts Mustard Festival
In celebration of the coming of spring and the blooming of wild mustard, Saratoga's Savannah Chanel Vineyards, 23600 Congress Springs Road, holds its Mustard Festival on March 20 and 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival takes place under a large tent and will still be held in the event of rain.
Admission, which is $15, includes food and wine tickets, a crystal wine glass, garden seating and live entertainment by Dizzy Burnett and the Grover Coe Quartet (Saturday) or Ron E. Beck and The Humdaddies (Sunday). Savannah Chanel will also offer tastings of some of its new wines and gourmet mustards. The Saratoga Village Caterers will provide food.
