    Montalvo plans a brunch, egg hunt

    Montalvo will host two champagne brunches on Easter Sunday catered by Pat Smith's Extravaganza of Saratoga. There will also be an Easter egg hunt for all children ages 10 and younger.

    The brunches are presented by the Montalvo Service Group, which holds various events during the year to benefit Montalvo, a nonprofit arts organization whose goal is to encourage people of all ages to learn about and enjoy the visual and creative arts.

    Seatings for the brunches will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and tickets are $42 for adults, $22 for children 12 and under, and free for children 3 and under. Reservations are required by March 24. Montalvo is at 15400 Montalvo Road in Saratoga. For more information, call 408.961.5823.

    League sets forum at West Valley

    The League of Women Voters of Southwest Santa Clara Valley is sponsoring a free forum at West Valley College on March 28, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in the Baltic Room, adjacent to the campus cafeteria.

    The event is titled, "How West Valley College Can Better Support All the Communities It Serves." The first hour comprises information about the college and how it works. Speakers will address how it meets the needs of high school students, university-bound students, re-entry students, senior citizens and students with special needs. Following a coffee break, the audience will be encouraged to share questions and comments.

    This forum is the local kick-off meeting for the League of Women Voters' statewide study of the community college system. West Valley College is at 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga. For additional information about the forum or the league, call 408.867.VOTE.

    Church to hold an addiction seminar

    "Addiction: The Mystery of the Hijacked Brain" is the topic for a seminar that takes place March 23, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Saratoga Federated Church, 14370 Saratoga Ave. Leading the seminar is Dr. Mary Anne Fifield, director of the Christian Recovery Center and a Bay Area authority on addiction. The cost is $24 per person, which includes breakfast and lunch. For reservations, call 408.867.1000.
