Poll workers needed for March 26 election

Santa Clara County's Registrar of Voters hopes to hire some 500 poll workers to help during the March 26 primary election. Some of the polling places need bilingual workers who can provide assistance to voters in Spanish, Vietnamese or Chinese.

Poll workers are paid $60 to $95 for working on election day. Training is provided. Workers must be American citizens, residents of Santa Clara County and at least 18 years old.

Assistance is especially needed in Campbell, Saratoga, Milpitas, Mountain View, San Jose, and San Martin.

KSAR to air election results

Saratoga's community television station, KSAR Channel 6, will air live returns for the Measure G election on March 26. Coverage will start around 8 p.m., when the county Registrar of Voters expects the first vote counts from Saratoga's 30 precincts. The station will continue election coverage until there is a clear majority vote indicated either for adoption or rejection of the measure.

By stationing a reporter at the registrar's office to relay vote counts, the station hopes to reduce the need for citizens calling for preliminary results.

In preparation for the election, KSAR will air Measure G forums sponsored by the Save Our Neighborhoods Initiative Committee, Saratoga Rotary Club, and the League of Women Voters March 22 from 4 to 6 p.m. and March 23 from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
