Sheriff's Report
Vandalism of Residence/Suspicious Circumstances--Mar. 10, 4 p.m. on Paseo Olivos. The victim's garage door and garage door opener were working fine when he returned home at about 6:30 p.m. on March 9. But when his wife tried to open the garage door twice the next day at about 8 a.m., it would only open about halfway. She then saw that the metal brackets that held the garage door in place were severely bent. No one had apparently entered the garage or taken anything, and no suspects were seen or heard.
Public Intoxication--Mar. 9, 12:45 a.m. on Prospect Road. When the officer saw the suspect jaywalk across four lanes of light traffic, the officer turned on the emergency red lights and stopped the suspect on the sidewalk. His gait was unsteady, and the officer smelled alcohol on him. His eyes were red and bloodshot, and he slurred his speech. The officer arrested him for being drunk in public, and booked him in at the county jail.
School Vandalism--Mar. 8, 8:10 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue. Someone stuck a hose through an open window at a school and turned on the hose, flooding the kitchen and gym. The reporting party thought the suspect used his or her own hose and handle. Although there didn't appear to be any damage, school officials wanted a report in case the maintenance crew found damage after inspecting the floor. The officer couldn't find or identify any suspects.
Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance--Mar. 7, 10:20 p.m. on Brookview Drive. When suspect No. 1's sister asked the officer to do a welfare check on the suspect, the officer found the him to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Suspect No. 1 admitted that he and his girlfriend, suspect No. 2, had used heroin earlier that day.
