Panthers win two
Senior middle blocker Chad Holan sparked the Prospect boys volleyball team to consecutive wins to open the season in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League last week.
Holan and Bryan Ronalter knocked down nine kills apiece to lead the Panthers to a 13-15, 15-4, 15-5, 15-10 win over Pioneer to open the league season, then Holan came back with eight more kills in a 15-10, 4-15, 15-5, 15-7 win over Branham two days later.
The Panthers, now 2-0 in division play and 6-0 for the year, will visit Gunderson on March 21 and host San Jose Academy on March 23 in a pair of 6 p.m. matches.
Football Clinic
Professional and college football coaches will be the featured speakers at the Football Clinic of Champions on March 24, 11:30 a.m., at Mountain View High School.
Gil Haskell, offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks, and Al Saunders, receivers coach for the St. Louis Rams, will top the list of speakers who will each give a 50-minute presentation. Haskell was a member of the Green Bay coaching staff when the Packers won the Super Bowl in 1997, and Saunders worked on the staff for the Rams when they won the Super Bowl in 2000.
Rounding out the lineup of speakers will be Neal Zoumboukos, assistant head coach at the University of Oregon; Doug Cosbie, head coach at Menlo College and former All-Pro tight end for the Dallas Cowboys; and Fitz Hill, head coach at San Jose State University.
The clinic is targeted to high school and youth football coaches but is open to the general public. The cost is $35 per person or $30 each for groups of five or more. The clinic runs till 5 p.m.

High school scholar-athletes who have competed despite facing the challenge of asthma are eligible for scholarships through the "Will to Win" scholarship program.
Scholarship applications are available by calling the "Will to Win" hotline at 1.800.558.7305. The deadline for entries is April 30.
