Saratoga resident Kimberly Lynn Barney, 25, was found dead in her home on March 15, by her mother, Jeanette Barney. The young woman's mother went to her daughter's residence on Paseo Presada, after a phone conversation in which her daughter said things that concerned her, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's office report.
Barney immediately called for emergency help after finding her daughter on the floor in the family room. Barney was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:53 p.m. There were no obvious signs of trauma, according to Sgt. John Hirokawa, who is with the sheriff's office.
The county coroner performed an autopsy, but the cause of death is still pending. It could take up to eight weeks to find out, the coroner's office said. Neither the coroner nor the sheriff's office would speculate on the cause of death.
Barney's father, who also lives in Saratoga, preferred not to comment other than to say it is a difficult time for the family.
Barney lived with at least one other person who was at work when the incident occurred, according to the sheriff's office. Calls to the residence by the Saratoga News were not returned.
Barney worked as a public relations writer for Coakley Heagerty Companies LTD, in San Jose, until about one month ago. Barney held a degree from the University of Pacific in Stockton in journalism and mass communications, according to company president John Heagerty. "It is a shock to us all," he said.
