Optimist Club plans spaghetti feed fundraiser
The Optimist Club of Saratoga invites the community to chow down on an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings on April 11, at 7 p.m. at Napredak Hall, 770 Montague Expwy. in San Jose.
Tickets are $12.50 for adults and $6 for children. Proceeds benefit local youth programs. For more information, call 408.832.4754.
Park director to speak at Saratoga Foothill Club event
For the last installment of its 1999-2000 Public Lecture Series, the Saratoga Foothill Club welcomes Guadalupe River Park and Gardens executive director Kathleen Muller on March 28, at 10 a.m. Muller and her associate, Mel Hulse, will give an update on the multiuse development of the park's three-mile expanse along the Guadalupe River in San Jose.
They also will talk about the Heritage Rose Garden, which contains 3,500 varieties of antique and modern roses; the Taylor Street Rock Garden, and the recycled water demonstration garden.

WVC offers many Women's History Month events
In recognition of Women's History Month, the West Valley-Mission Community College District has planned workshops in March.
Among the remaining workshops is Women in the Developing World on March 23, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, presented by Saratogans Barby and Vic Ulmer, founders of the nonprofit organization, Our Developing World. The Ulmers will use games, simulations, myths, fables and visual materials to introduce topics of concern to women in developing countries.
Another event is Treasuring Our Past: A Luncheon and Antiques Road Show of Women's History Artifacts on March 29, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Luncheon tickets are $10 each, with proceeds going to the Educational Transition Emergency Fund.
