Saratoga NewsObituariesGrace Eilrich Grace Mae Eilrich, who lived in San Jose and Saratoga, died Feb. 6 at Los Gatos Community Hospital. She was 82. She was born Dec. 4, 1915, in Montana and worked as a registered nurse in Nebraska before moving to Oregon, where she was a homemaker. She later moved to Southern California, where she worked in the pathology department at Santa Monica Hospital. Upon retiring in 1972, she moved to Kansas, then settled back in California in 1982. Reading and stitchery were among her hobbies. She is survived by her daughter, Annette "Nettie" Morse of Saratoga, and granddaughter Teri McFadden of San Jose. Memorial services have been held. Ralph Odgers Ralph Edward Odgers, a Saratoga resident since 1966, died Feb. 6 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Palo Alto. He was 73. Odgers was born March 18, 1924, in Honolulu, where his father was stationed with the U.S. Marine Corps. After graduating from high school, Odgers attended and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. His 20-year Navy career included service in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He flew with "The Blue Tail Flies," which was first a fighter squadron and then an attack squadron. When in the Bay Area, he was stationed at Moffett Field in Mountain View. Odgers also worked as a flight instructor in Pensacola, Fla., and in a naval electronics lab in San Diego. After retiring from the Navy in the 1960s as a lieutenant commander, Odgers worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space company. Among his hobbies were sports and doing work in his yard, which his wife says was his pride and joy. Survivors include wife Carol Odgers of Saratoga; daughter and son-in-law Christine and Craig Scott of Treasure Island, Fla.; and grandson Stephen Scott of Treasure Island. Memorial services have been held, with interment at Golden Gate National Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
