West Valley Vikings beat De Anza Dons

Matt Troedson singled, doubled and homered to drive in two runs and lead the West Valley Community College baseball team to a 5-2 win over rival De Anza in Coast Conference play last week.

Isaac Yacap chipped in with a pair of hits for the Vikings, and Ryan Becks picked up the mound win, runnning his season record to 6-1.

But the win over the Dons was the only victory the Vikings could manage on the week. West Valley lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Cañada, and lost 6-4 to Cabrillo when the Seahawks broke up a 3-3 tie with a three-run rally in the ninth.

Yacap had four hits, including a pair of doubles, and Jim Alderete homered, but it wasn't enough for West Valley against Cabrillo. Nick Dalis and Jeff Canter supported with two hits apiece.

The 1-2 week leaves West Valley 4-6 in the conference and 15-10 for the year.
