Saratoga netters nail three wins

It was the kind of week that can turn a season around.

Come to think of it, that's what happened to the Saratoga boys' tennis team last week. The Falcons almost matched their season win total by posting three victories to punch their 4-3 record to 7-3 for the year.

Brian Albert led the charge at No. 1 singles with three wins for the Falcons. Albert posted a tight 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2) win to start the Falcons on the road to a tight 4-3 win over Homestead, and he finished with the week with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win in a 4-3 victory over Lynbrook.

The two wins helped the Falcons improve to 3-2 in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.

Sandwiched between the two league wins was a 6-1 victory over Aptos. Albert posted a 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 triumph at No. 1 singles.

Brian Doore supported with three straight-set wins at No. 5 singles for the Falcons. Doore won 6-0, 6-0 against the Mustangs; 6-2, 6-1 against Aptos; and 6-2, 6-4 against the Vikings.

Elong Chiu supported with wins at No. 4 singles in each of the league wins. Peter Rickgauer won at No. 3 singles against Aptos and Lynbrook.
