    Clare Einhorn

Former Saratogan Clare Einhorn died March 9 following a long illness. She was 79.

Born in Chelan, Wash., Einhorn attended UCLA in the early 1940s. When World War II broke out, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where she met her future husband, Kenneth Einhorn. After the war, she attended and graduated from the University of Illinois on the G.I. Bill.

The Einhorns moved to Colorado and lived in Boulder and Greeley before coming to California in the early 1960s. They lived in Saratoga until seven years ago, when Kenneth died after 49 years of marriage. Clare then moved to Santa Cruz.

A member of the American Association of University Women, Clare enjoyed traveling, reading and walking up to five miles each day, accompanied by her dogs.

Survivors include daughters Cate Moore of Felton and Nell Cumming of Santa Cruz; son Henry Einhorn of San Diego; and grandchildren Ben, Sean, Robin, Michelle, Velma and Muirgheal.

Memorial services have been held, with interment at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga. Donations can be made to the Doran Resource Center for the Blind, 413 Laurel St., Santa Cruz, 95060.
