Saint Andrew's School eighth-grader Ben Tegarden will travel to Sacramento March 29 to participate in the statewide National Geography Bee. Tegarden placed among the top 100 in the competition's first round, competing against thousands of students.
Only one student from the state competition will be chosen to compete in the national round, which will be held in Washington, D.C., on May 28 and 29.
"I would really like to win at the state level and go on to Washington, D. C.," Tegarden said.
The National Geography Bee is sponsored by National Geographic WORLD magazine and the Chrysler Corporation.
