Simeone, McCarthy

Mary Louise Simeone and Thomas Robert McCarthy plan a June 21 wedding in Hamden, Conn. Simeone, daughter of Belisario and Candida Simeone of Hamden, Conn., obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Connecticut and is a graduate of the ob-gyn nurse practioner program at San Jose State University. She is a nurse practioner in private practice in Los Gatos. McCarthy, son of Leonard and Janet McCarthy of Saratoga, is a graduate of UC-Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He holds an MBA from Santa Clara University and is a project engineer with Sverdrop Technology, Mountain View.

Smith, Jacobs

L. Alexander Jacobs of Saratoga and Barbra Diane Smith of Napa plan a September wedding at Silverado Country Club in Napa. The bride-elect, who holds a bachelor's degree in child development from CSU-Sacramento, is employed by the state Office of Real Estate and Design in Sacramento. Jacobs, son of Barbara Jacobs and the late Melvin Jacobs of Saratoga, is a graduate of Saratoga High School and CSU-Sacramento. He is employed by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance in Sacramento.

Stein, Ross

Linda and Richard A. Stein of Lakewood have announced the engagement of their daughter, Susan, to Keith S. Ross, son of Ruth and Dr. Lawrence A.R. Ross of Los Gatos. Susan graduated from Lakewood High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree at UC-Davis and a master's degree in public health at UCLA. She is the senior compliance analyst of the legal and regulatory affairs department of PacifiCare of California. Keith graduated from Saratoga High School and received a bachelor of science degree from UC-Santa Barbara and a law degree from the University of Southern California. He specializes in criminal law with the firm of Wallin & Klarich.

Machado-Wyant

Diane Louise Machado and Frank Paul Wyant are engaged to be married June 23 at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga. The bride is the daughter of Hank and Eddie Machado of Morgan Hill. She graduated from Live Oak High School in 1985 and earned a bachelor's degree in music performance from San Jose State University in 1989. She is the director of music at Sierramont Middle School in San Jose. Frank Wyant, whose parents are Saratogans Tom and Vicki Wyant, graduated from Saratoga High School in 1983 and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music performance from San Jose State University. He directs the bands and orchestra at Saratoga High School, as well as the orchestra at Los Gatos High School.
