Cathryn H. Jones
Cathryn H. Jones, mother of Sharon DeMartini of Saratoga, died on March 17 at her home in Los Gatos after a lengthy illness.
Born in Michigan on August 6, 1910, she was the widow of Lt. Col. David Emory Jones, who was killed in World War II. She was a graduate of College of St. Mary of the Wasatch, Salt Lake City.
She worked as a librarian at Holy Cross High School in Mountain View, at Alma College in Los Gatos and at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. In retirement, she volunteered at the Los Gatos branch of the American Red Cross.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kirch DeMartini, she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass was held at St. Mary's in Los Gatos, followed by burial at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga. Donations may be made to Hospice Charitable Care, Good Samaritan Charitable Trust, P. O. Box 20759, San Jose, 95160.
Larry Largent
Larry Largent, 49, a longtime resident of Saratoga, died March 13 from complications of lung cancer. Largent was owner and CEO of Lartronics Inc.
He was an active member of the community, serving as president of Saratoga Little League and a booster chairman at Bellarmine High School. He attended South Hills Community Church.
He is survived by his two sons, Matt and Scott; his brother Lloyd and two sisters, Jo Ann Loera and June Lawless.
Memorial services were held at Oak Hill Funeral Home Chapel of the Oaks. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
M. Leonard Mitchell
M. Leonard "Len" Mitchell, 80, died Feb. 25 in San Jose.
He was a native of Colorado and a resident of Saratoga. After returning home from service in the merchant marine during World War II, he established the Mitchell Electric Company. He retired from the electric business in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mitchell of Saratoga; his sister Cleo Carney of Greeley, Colo.; his son, Mark Mitchell of Boise, Idaho; his daughter, Judith Mitchell Marshall of Saratoga; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Feb. 29 at the Saratoga Presbyterian Church. Contributions can be made to the Building Fund of the Saratoga Presbyterian Church, 20455 Herriman Ave., Saratoga 95070.
