Exchange program seeks applicants

The American International Youth Student Exchange Program is seeking American host families for 25 students from high schools in Europe and other continents for the coming school year. Students will arrive in the U. S. in late August, attend the local school and return home in late June next year. The students, all fluent in English, have been screened by their school counselors in their home country and will receive medical insurance and spending money.

The program is also seeking American high-school students, ages 15 to 19, who would like to spend a high-school semester or year with a European family or participate in a four- or six-week family stay abroad in the summer. Interested students and families are invited to contact the AIYSEP International Headquarters at: Office of the Director, 200 Round Hill Road, Tiburon, 94920; or call (800) 347-7575.

First place went to Kristin Michelle Pfeiffer of Blue Hills School; second place to Jocelyne Liu of Regnart School; third place to Chen Shay of Nimitz School; fourth place to Cindy King of Regnart; fifth place to Joanne Gwo of Stocklmeir School; and sixth place to Karen Cook of Faria School.

These students were honored with their parents, teachers, and principals at an awards breakfast March 8 at the district office.
