Vikings win three in Baseball League

It's tough to say who had the best week for the West Valley Community College baseball team... J.R. Ziegelmann, Ray Hutchison or Ryan Becks.

But head coach Mike Perez doesn't care much which of his Vikings play the best, just as long as West Valley is winning.

And the Vikings were winning last week, beating De Anza, Skyline and Foothill to jump to 8-3 in the Coast Conference and to 17-7 for the year.

Ziegelmann picked up a couple of saves and had a few hits, Hutchison had two hits in each of the three games, and Becks had seven hits for the week to lead the Vikes to the three wins.

Becks and Frank Cortez had three hits apiece to lead the Vikes to the 5-1 win over Foothill. Hutchison had two hits and Jake Smith singled and doubled. John Harris was the winning pitcher and Ziegelmann picked up his fourth save of the year.

Brian Vogel was the winning pitcher and Ziegelmann nailed the save in the 16-11 win over Skyline. Jeff Canter had four hits to drive in three runs and Ken Fukumoto singled, doubled and homered to knock in four.

Ziegelmann doubled and singled twice and Hutchison singled home two runs. Smith singled and doubled, Becks doubled home a pair of runs and Nick Dalis had two hits.

Hutchison doubled and homered to drive in three runs and Fuku-moto singled and homered to plate three runs in the 15-7 win over De Anza. Becks and Frank Cortez each had a homer among their three hits.

Joss Clausman singled twice and tripled to knock in two runs. Jim Alderete had two hits and Canter drove in two runs. Matt Troedson was the winning pitcher, pushing his record to 5-0, and Damien Moore picked up the save.
