    By Dick Sparrer

Daniel Ruby and Josh Marshall led the Saratoga golf team to back-to-back wins over Lynbrook last week.

Marshall shot a two-over par 36 to lead the Falcons to a 197-228 win over the Vikings at the Saratoga Country Club.

Marshall and Ruby were each one-under at 29 to drive the Falcons past Lynbrook 157-179 at Deep Cliff a few days later.

The Falcons are now 5-0 in the division and Lynbrook slipped to 0-5.

Brent Picard put together two solid rounds last week to lead the Westmont golf team to back-to-back wins over Lincoln in the Mount Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

Picard shot a two-over par 38 at San Jose Municipal to lead the Warriors to a 209-225 win over the Lions, and he came back with a one-over 37 at Summit Pointe in a 225-230 win over Lincoln.

Westmont is now 4-2 in the division and 4-3 for the year.

Elsewhere, senior Neal Valera fired a two-under par 28 to drive Prospect to a 181-181 tie against Pioneer at Deep Cliff. The Panthers lost 210-215 to the Mustangs at The Villages a couple of days later to slip to 2-3-1 in the Santa Teresa Division.

    Panthers, Warriors win

The Prospect boys volleyball team continued to roll through the 2001 season with two more wins last week.

Senior Ryan Sainsbury slammed down eight kills to lead the Panthers to a 15-10, 15-5, 15-6 win over Gunderson, and sophomore Bryan Ronalter nailed nine kills in a 15-5, 15-9, 8-15, 15-10 win over San Jose Academy.

The two wins helped the Panthers improve to 4-0 in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League, and to 8-0 for the year.

Westmont, meanwhile, pulled out a 9-15, 15-9, 15-12, 15-10 nonleague win over Oak Grove last week. Derrick Nelson had 10 kills to lead the Warriors to the win, their first in four matches this year.

    Jama nails win

The Prospect boys tennis team lost four times in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League to fall to 1-6 in league play and 1-8 for the year.

The Panthers lost 7-0 to Willow Glen, 6-1 to Andrew Hill, 6-1 to Valley Christian and 6-1 to Yerba Buena. Junior Abraham Jama nailed a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles for Prospect's only win against YB.

In other local action, Westmont lost 6-1 to Hill and 7-0 to both Leigh and Willow Glen in the Santa Teresa Division. The Warriors are 0-10 this season.

In the SCVAL's De Anza Division, Saratoga split last week, beating Wilcox 5-2 after losing 6-1 to Los Altos. The Falcons are 4-4 in the division.

Lynbrook, meanwhile, lost 7-0 to Monta Vista in a league match to slip to 0-7 in the division. The Vikings lost 5-2 to Leland in a nonleague match earlier in the week, despite getting a 6-4, 6-0 win by James Liu at No. 1 singles. The Vikes are 2-8 for the year.
