Task force on bike path to be formed, says City Council
The Council voted to request that Santa Clara County create a task force to study the feasibility of a trail along the Union Pacific Railroad lines in the county, as a request of Saratoga's Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) and the recommendation of the city's Parks and Recreation Commission.
The purpose of the proposed multiuse trail would be to establish a permanent link between the Stevens Creek Trail and the Los Gatos Creek trail, a distance of 8.7 miles. San Jose, Campbell, Cupertino and Los Gatos are all interested in developing the trail, said Jim Stallman of the BAC.
City to receive 'interpretive' park benches
The Santa Clara County Water District has offered to install and maintain three interpretive park benches in Saratoga: one at Neale's Hollow, one at Wildwood Park near the parking lot and one near the intersection of Prospect and English Drive.
The benches are made of poured concrete with an interpretive resin plaque on top. The district would like to see the benches in place by late spring, according to Cary Bloomquist in the City Manager's office. No cost or maintenance obligations will be incurred by the city for this project.
