Saratoga resident dies of injuries

Saratoga resident John Haufe, of 21210 Canyon View Dr., was fatally injured early March 23. According to the Santa Clara County coroner's office, Haufe was struck by a Green Valley Disposal sanitation vehicle while he was on foot. He was taken to Valley Medical Center in San Jose, where he was pronounced dead at 8:55 a.m.

Lt. Carey Colla with the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department said no other details about the accident were available at press time. He expected it would take several weeks to determine how the accident occurred.

Haufe was 97 years old.
