Cleaner honored for pollution prevention
Cleaner 2000, on Prospect Avenue, was honored last week as a recipient of the Susanne Wilson Environmental Achievement Award in the small-facility category. The award recognizes companies and organizations that have excelled in implementing or promoting pollution prevention in Santa Clara County; they are presented every other year by the Santa Clara County Hazardous Materials Advisory Committee, a coalition of government, industry, environmental and public organizations.
Cleaner 2000, owned by Abe Afshari, was the first cleaner in Northern California to successfully switch from traditional dry cleaning to the safer wet cleaning process, completely eliminating the use of perchloroethylene.
