    Adult Day Care holds spaghetti dinner fundraiser

    The Saratoga Adult Day Care Center will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on April 6. There will be two sittings, one at 5 p.m. and one at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $12. For more information call 408.868.1262

    Deadline coming for Muko student exchange program

    Saratoga and its sister city in Japan, Muko-Shi, near Kyoto, will conduct its 15th student exchange program for high school students from July 24 to August 14. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2000.

    Four Saratoga students will be chosen to stay in the homes of the Muko-Shi students and four of those students will stay with the Saratoga students' families.

    Friends runs auction of rare, collectible books

    The Friends of the Saratoga Libraries' will host a book auction throughout April with proceeds to benefit the library. Antiquarian, children's, small press, military history and western Americana are included in the auction.

    The Friends will auction off signed editions by Gertrude Atherton, Dwight David Eisenhower, John Fowles and Wallace Stegner, according to Mary Jeanne Fenn of the Friends.

    The books are available for preview and silent bids through April 10, at the Book-Go-Round, at 14410 Oak Street, which is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. Also, the full list with detailed descriptions is available online at http://members.aol.com/BookGoRnd. The auction culminates with a verbal auction on April 13, at 7 p.m. at the Saratoga Community Library.

    Tom Campbell hits milestone

    Tom Campbell, congressman for District 15, which covers Saratoga and Los Gatos, has reached the 700 mark in numbers of town hall meetings he has held in the communities he represents in the past 10 years.
