Men's Basketball

The Saratoga Recreation Department is now accepting team registrations for the upcoming spring 35-plus men's basketball league. Games are played Saturday mornings at Saratoga High School, and the season begins April 25. For a manager's packet, call 868-1248.

Special Olympics

The annual Special Olympics county track and field meet will be held May 16, and chaperones are needed.

Special Olympics swimming and golf competition is also under way, and volunteers are needed for various jobs.

More information on the Special Olympics program will be available at a spring volunteer orientation on April 14, 7 p.m., at the Special Olympics office, 5730 Chambertin Drive, San Jose. For more information, call 267-2734.

Coaches Needed

Los Gatos is looking for a number of coaches for the 1998-99 school year. The Wildcats need coaches for wrestling, cross-country, track, girls' water polo and swimming. Anyone qualified and interested should call Los Gatos athletic director Butch Cattolico at 354-2730.

Big Bunny Fun Run

You can walk, run, skate or even hop when the annual Big Bunny Fun Run returns to Cupertino on April 11.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Cupertino City Hall. The cost is $15 for the 5K run, or $9 for the 112-mile walk, skate or 13-and-under run. There is an $3 charge for late registration.

World Title Fight

IBF Featherweight World Champion Hector Lizarraga of San Jose will take on challenger Manuel Medina in the first-ever world championship fight to be contested at the San Jose Arena.

The Garden City Boxing Club card, set for April 24, will include three championship fights and will also feature WBU Junior Featherweight Champion Carlos Navarro.
