Marie and Edward Orlowski of Saratoga will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary April 12 at a party at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose given by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The couple were married in 1947 in England during World War II and were unable to have an elaborate wedding because of the war, said their granddaughter, Kathy Laton. They came to the United States, and moved to Buffalo, N.Y., and eventually to California. They have lived in Saratoga since 1960.
Mr. Orlowski, now retired, worked at Westinghouse as a draftsman, and Mrs. Orlowski, also retired, worked at Johnson & Johnson.
The anniversary party is being given by their daughter, Vanda Kightly; son, Edward M. Orlowski; grandson, Edward Kightly; granddaughter, Kathy Laton; and great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Tadd Laton.
The Orlowskis bought houses in Saratoga for their daughter and son, enabling the entire family to live in close proximity, said their granddaughter.
