John Denver will perform this summer at Villa Montalvo.

Tickets go on sale for concert season

Tickets for theVilla Montalvo and Mountain Winery 1997 Performing Arts Season go on sale by telephone at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 13, through the box office at 961-5828.

Performances will be held in four locations: the 1,100-seat Garden Theatre, the Carriage House Theatre, the front lawn and, new this year, the historic Mountain Winery in the Saratoga foothills.

Among the performers booked into the Garden Theatre are Shawn Colvin, Sista Monica and the Battle of the Blues Divas, Anne Murray, Kathleen Battle, and sax greats Grover Washington Jr., Dave Koz, Joe Lovano and David Sanborn.

Performing on the front lawn will be John Denver, the Neville Brothers, Larry Carlton joined by Strunz and Farah, Gypsy Tribe, Keiko Matsui with Kilauea, and Paul Taylor and Peter White.

The newly renovated 300-seat Carriage House Theatre will host such performers as the Masters of the Slack Key Guitar, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Tibetan Monks, Poncho Sanchez and Irish Fire.

The Mountain Winery stage will come alive once again with Boz Scaggs, Chris Isaak, John Tesh, Randy Travis and the Doobie Brothers.

Proceeds support Montalvo's Artist Residency Program, Community Outreach, the Gallery at Montalvo and Montalvo's literary arts programs.
