    Obituaries

    Kenneth Christiansen

    Saratoga resident Kenneth Carl Christiansen died at home on Nov. 12, at the age of 75.

    Christiansen was born on Nov. 16, 1924, in Nebraska, but grew up in Iowa. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe. After graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan University, he married Margaret Marie Darby.

    Christiansen taught at Westside High School in Omaha, Neb., for a time, then the family moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1956, where he worked as an engineer with General Dynamics and Bell Helicopter. In 1969, the family moved to Saratoga. Christiansen worked for Control Data Corporation until his 1987 retirement.

    Among his hobbies was working with wood, and he enjoyed crafting items for his family, as well as for friends from the Saratoga Presbyterian Church. He also was an active volunteer with Sacred Heart Community Services in the ESL program, as well as the food pantry.

    Survivors include wife of 50 years Margaret Christiansen of Saratoga; daughter Debra Christiansen of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada; daughter and son-in-law Alice and James Holcomb of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren Brian and Gina Green of Okinawa, Japan; Jared Green of Spokane, Aaren and Jesse Holcomb of Spokane, Anne Marie Holcomb of Seattle and Sarah Green of Wetaskiwin.

    Memorial services have been held, with interment in Spokane, Wash.
