    Sheriff's Report

    Petty Theft--April 2, 6:15 p.m. on Manor Drive. A suspect named Michael Furgerson, whom the victim doesn't know, took mail that contained checks from the victim's mailbox and cashed a check at the Wells Fargo branch in Sunnyvale. Sunnyvale police officers responded and took a report.

    Vandalism--April 2, 12:37 p.m. on Old Tree Way. Unknown suspects smashed the victim's mailbox sometime the night before.

    Petty Theft--April 2, 11:40 a.m. on Fourth Street. Sometime in the last few weeks, an unknown suspect stole the victim's registration tab off his vehicle's rear license plate. The victim had no idea where or when the tab was stolen.

    Vandalism--April 2, 10:12 a.m. on Chateau Drive. Unknown suspects jumped the victim's rear fence after a party at a neighbor's house was dispersed. They walked on the roof of the victim's green house, which stood against the fence shared by the victim and the victim's neighbor, and caused over $150 in damage.

    Petty Theft (Cell Phone)--April 2, 9:15 a.m. on Fruitvale Avenue. The reporting party, who was working on the furnace at a house under construction, reported that someone took a $150 Nokia cell phone from his tool bag while he was working in the garage. Although several other contractors were there, no one said they saw anyone take the phone.

    Found Property--April 1, 5:55 p.m. on Herriman Drive. The officer found a black "Case Logic" brand case that contained a CD player and 44 CDs lying in the middle of the westbound lane of Herriman Drive at Lexington Drive. The case had the words "Big " written on it in white. The officer found no other identification in or on the case, and no one was there to claim it. The officer packaged the case, labeled it and submitted it into the Westside Substation evidence locker.

    More Found Property--April 1, 5:10 p.m. on Ravenwood Drive. The reporting party said he was riding his bike with his family on Chester and Allendale, when he found a black holster with a firearm inside, lying in the gutter on Allendale. He couldn't find the owner and immediately called the sheriff's office. The officer contacted Communications and was advised that the gun serial number checked clear. The officer submitted it into the evidence room.

    Vandalism--March 31, 11:05 a.m. on Julie Lane. The victim told the officer that the unknown suspect(s) dented the back tailgate of his company truck overnight, while it was parked in a parking stall on Oak Lane. The officer took a photo of the dent and submitted it for evidence at the Westside Substation.

    Found Property--March 31, 10:45 a.m. on Oak Creek Lane. The respondent found two small baggies of marijuana and a glass pipe on the ground behind his neighbor's property. He said that sheriff's deputies had broken up a party at his neighbor's address, where several minors were drinking alcohol, the night before at 9:30. The respondent didn't know who the marijuana belonged to. The officer booked the marijuana and pipe into evidence at the Westside Substation for destruction.

    Burglary (Auto)--March 30, 6:25 a.m. on Swarthmore Drive. The victim told the officer that his vehicles had been burglarized and ransacked. The unknown suspect(s) had taken a bag of coins from one car and a binder from the other, but had left two leather cases that contained music CDs in the Passat. The officer dusted a cup from the Passat for latent prints.

    Improper Use of Personal ID Information--March 29, 7 p.m. on Rancho Las Cimas. Ryder Truck Rentals called the victim, wanting to confirm a move she would be making from Chicago to Memphis. The company had her name and phone number, but wouldn't give her any other information. Ryder told her it would release more information to the police agency only if she got a police report. An unknown suspect had gotten the victim's name and phone number, and had tried to use them to get services with Ryder.

    Destruction of Firearm--March 29, 9:20 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue. The reporting party dropped a rifle off at the Westside Substation for destruction.

    Theft by Stolen Credit Card--March 27, 9:25 p.m. on Belle Court. An unknown suspect gained access to the victim's ATM card and charged $1,400 worth of miscellaneous items against her account.

    Vandalism--March 27, 1:48 p.m. on Saratoga Avenue. Between noon and 1:48 p.m., the unknown suspect(s) broke out the rear window of the victim's vehicle. No one witnessed the crime.

    Petty Theft of Mail (Personal Check)--March 27, 12:35 p.m. on Brookview Drive. The suspect stole a $20 check from the victim's mailbox, washed the check and then forged it at a Kragen Auto supply store.

    Grand Theft--March 27, 10:30 a.m. on Titus Avenue. The suspect stopped at the victim's residence to look at a vehicle for sale and asked to see the victim's other vehicles. The suspect saw chips in the paint and offered to patch the paint for a reasonable fee. He said he did it for a living and had all the equipment, including the right paint color, in his vehicle. The victim agreed to a price of $225, and the suspect did the work. He then asked to use the restroom and was let in the back of the house. Moments after he left with the payment, the victim discovered that a ring was missing.
