    Obituary

    Kimberly Barney

Saratoga native Kimberly Barney died suddenly on March 15, at the age of 25. Born on March 29, 1974, she attended St. Andrew's School and Saratoga High School.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Saratoga and enjoyed the outdoors, photography, tap and jazz dancing. She was particularly devoted to her two cats, Rascal and Lucy. She worked in the field of public relations.

During the memorial service at St. Andrew's, the Rev. Ernest Cockerell recalled her "energy and goodness, the candor and courage which flowed from her life into ours." He also referred to "Kim's acceptance of others, and for her loyalty to friends throughout the years."

Her friend Kim McIntyre said of Kim, "When I got to know Kim well during my early college career, I immediately grew to admire her candor, her sense of humor, her wit, her loyalty to those she cared about."

Kim's friend, Caroline Shields, who had known her since their sophomore year in high school, recalled, "She was a very special person ... who always stood up for others, and was a good friend to all."

She is survived by her parents, Jeannette and Roger Barney of Saratoga; sister, Carla Barney of Saratoga; and grandmothers, Odetta Frankenberry and Fay Keit.

The family prefers donations to Eastfield Ming Quong Junior Auxiliary, 14510 Big Basin Way, Saratoga, 95070.
